When should I send an on-guard message?

#1

Following the latest update, you can no longer see the airspace limitations at your airport. All airspace should be treated as SFC-5000ft and a 5NM ring.

An on-guard message should not be sent to an aircraft outside of your airspace unless they’re clearly descending into or approaching final for landing. Remember, just because an aircraft is over your airport does not mean they’re in your airspace.

Example: An aircraft flying overhead at 13,000ft does not need to contact the tower. Transitions will be approved at or below 5000ft.

Happy Controlling!
